P7/6 Assembly/MacMillan Coffee Afternoon

P7/6 held an assembly for parents last Friday (29/09/17) highlighting the dangers of smoking. The pupils have learned a lot of facts about smoking through their 'Smoke Free Me' topic. The assembly was combined with a coffee afternoon for the MacMillan cancer charity held in memory of a young member of staff who recently passed away. They baked cakes and decorated the hall for their visitors. The afternoon was fabulous and raised over £600 for the charity with donations still coming in. Well done P7/6 and Ms Hughes for all your hard work.

New Term Coffee Afternoon/Parent Council AGM

Last Friday parents and carers were invited to a new term coffee afternoon. At the start of the event the Chair of the parent council gave a report to the parent forum on the activities they were involved in and how the parent council were hoping to support our children this year. After this each class took a turn at entertaining the attendees with a variety of songs that showcased their learning.

Digital Leaders at Garelochhead PS

Four children from Garelochhead PS took part in a Digital Leaders course along with many other children from schools in Argyll and Bute. The course was organised by the Education Support officer for digital technologies and iTeach, a company that supports schools to develop their use of computers, iPads and other ITC equipment. The children had an absolute ball and will now cascade their knowledge to other pupils in the school.

P1 Cafe Event

P1 created a cafe in the school for their parents. They practised their enterprise skills by writing invitations, baking and using money to sell juice, cakes and biscuits. The children and parents all had a great time.
